Essential oils are a great way to naturally support your health! During the cold winter months, diffusing certain blends of oils can even help support your immune system.
Oils like eucalyptus, rosemary, and frankincense aid the respiratory system. While thyme, tea tree, and lavender boost the immune system and make it easier to maintain health. Thyme, tea tree, and lemon can also help clean the air during times of seasonal illness.
The diffuser combinations below are for my 120mL diffuser so adjust accordingly for your own. A good guideline is to start with 3 to 5 drops of oil per 100mL of water. It’s always easier to start on the lighter side and add more drops of essential oil if needed. Consider the size of the room you’re diffusing in and who will be in it.
Something to Keep in Mind: Diffusing essential oils is one of the safest ways to use them but always be cautious when diffusing around children, pets, and those with asthma or allergies.
Here are four of my favorite diffuser blends for immune system support:
2 Drops Peppermint and 2 Drops Eucalyptus
This may be my all time favorite scent combination! I grew up loving it as a candle scent before I switched over to diffusing essential oils instead. This blend is relaxing, invigorating, and helps clear the airways. Peppermint is revitalizing and refreshing while eucalyptus stimulates and supports the respiratory system.
1 Drop Peppermint, 1 Drop Thyme, 1 Drop Rosemary, and 1 Drop Lavender
This combination has a wonderful sweet herbaceous scent. Thyme boosts the immune system and helps prevent seasonal illness. Rosemary offers respiratory support and mixes nicely with peppermint to mellow the woody scent of thyme. Lavender boosts the blend and gives it a slightly sweet calming element.
1 Drop Lavender, 1 Drop Frankincense Frereana, 1 Drop Lemon, and 1 Drop Tea Tree
Lemon gives this mix a fresh scent that invigorates and disinfects. Tea tree helps to clean the air as well as combining with frankincense frereana in a woody undertone. Both support a healthy immune system. Lavender offers sporadic hints of sweetness while diffusing.
2 Drops Lemon, 1 Drop Rosemary, 1 Drop Frankincense Serrata, and 2 Drops Eucalyptus
This combination is light and fresh with a slight herb scent. Both eucalyptus and frankincense serrata promote clear breathing while lemon and rosemary are uplifting and refreshing. Rosemary also offers an additional boost of respiratory support.
Synergy Blends:
I really enjoy Plant Therapy’s Immune Aid Synergy Blend. It’s a great combination of respiratory support oils and citrus scents to promote a healthy immune system. I add a few drops to my diffuser and also apply it topically diluted to 2% in a roller bottle.

- My basic homemade moisturizer and my simple beard oil recipe use thyme, rosemary, and lavender too.
- Lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, and thyme are all oils I diffuse in the morning for natural energy. I use tea tree and lemon essential oils in my diffuser blends for air purification. Frankincense and peppermint also feature in some diffuser combinations to get in the holiday mood.
