4 Essential Oil Diffuser Combinations for Waking Up

I am not a morning person. I like to get up early but it takes me a couple of hours to wake up and be able to hold a conversation. With the days slowly getting shorter and darkness creeping in on my early mornings, I especially need some help waking up lately.

While coffee, Pearl cuddles, and time to myself help, I put a few drops of essential oils into my diffuser for additional support. We live in a tiny space so a little goes a long way.

These diffuser combinations are for my 120mL diffuser so adjust accordingly for your own. A good guideline is to start with 3 to 5 drops of oil per 100mL of water. It’s always easier to start on the lighter side and add more drops of essential oil if needed. Consider the size of the room you’re diffusing in and who will be in it.

Something to Keep in Mind: Diffusing essential oils is one of the safest ways to use them but always be cautious when diffusing around children, pets, and those with asthma or allergies.

Here are four of my favorite diffuser combinations for waking up:

Diffuser Combinations for Waking Up - Lemon and Peppermint

2 Drops Peppermint and 2 Drops Lemon

Peppermint is the ultimate essential oil for alertness and lemon starts my morning off feeling uplifted and clean. Plus peppermint supports the respiratory system and lemon cleans the air. This is my go to favorite.

Diffuser Combinations for Waking Up - Peppermint, Orange, Ylang Ylang, and Cedarwood

1 Drop Peppermint, 1 Drop Sweet Orange, 1 Drop Ylang Ylang, and 1 Drop Cedarwood

If you love floral scents this is a great morning blend. I often find Ylang Ylang to be too strong for me. I enjoy how it’s balanced out by the other scents in this diffuser combination.

Diffuser Combinations for Waking Up - Rosemary, Eucalyptus, and Orange

1 Drop Sweet Orange, 1 Drop Eucalyptus, and 1 Drop Rosemary

Sweet orange essential oil promotes a positive mood, eucalyptus is invigorating and helps open airways, and rosemary aids memory and focus.

Diffuser Combinations for Waking Up - Thyme, Lemon, and Rosemary

1 Drop Thyme, 2 Drops Lemon, and 2 Drops Rosemary

I use Thyme linalool or sweet thyme, which is a gentler essential oil than other types of thyme. It has a woody scent that boosts the immune and respiratory systems. It combines nicely with lemon’s uplifting and disinfecting property and rosemary’s focus.

Synergy Blends:

I have a few synergy oils from Plant Therapy that I use occasionally. I think it’s more fun to try my own mixes and combinations. Their energy and brain aid blends are my favorite to use in the mornings.

Other Essential Oils that are Great for Mornings:
