As I enter my mid 30s, I’ve felt like now is the time to take better care of my skin. For some people that may mean purchasing expensive balms and anti-aging serums.
I however prefer to make my own personal care products. That way I know exactly what ingredients are going into them.
Lately I’ve taken a deep dive into using the natural powers of essential oils to promote healthy skin including help combating the changes that come with mature skin.
This summer I stepped up my skin care routine with some new recipes. My DIY regime consists of a natural face wash, a basic homemade toner, and now this simple face oil.
I especially like this recipe for summer use. I find it’s easier to use than my other homemade moisturizer. It spreads lightly over skin, absorbs quickly, and smells luxurious!
Simple Face Oil
What You Will Need:
- 2 oz glass dropper bottle
- 2 oz almond oil
- 7 drops lavender essential oil
- 5 drops frankincense frereana
- 5 drops tea tree
- 3 drops ylang ylang
Why These Ingredients?
Almond oil is a light carrier oil, appropriate for all skin types. It softens and reconditions dry skin while spreading and soaking in easily.
Lavender’s universal benefits as an essential oil apply to skin care too! It soothes skin and can clear up blemishes. It also has healing properties and can reduce scars and wrinkles.
Frankincense frereana is the best type of frankincense for skin care. It is known for it’s rejuvenating properties. It can smooth wrinkles and scars as well as promote the healing of dry or damaged skin.
Tea tree essential oil helps keep skin balanced and soothes irritated skin, reducing redness and healing blemishes, making it a great choice for acne prone skin.
Ylang ylang has a sweet floral scent and promotes healthy skin. It’s known for it’s ability to rejuvenate skin and prevent signs of aging.
How to Make Simple Face Oil:
Count out 7 drops of lavender essential oil into the glass dropper bottle. Add 5 drops of frankincense frereana, 5 drops of tea tree, and 3 drops of ylang ylang.
Pour almond oil into the dropper bottle until nearly full.
Screw on the dropper lid.
Shake to combine.
Apply 4 to 6 drops of oil to your face. I usually count out the drops into my hand and then spread evenly over my face after a shower.
This bottle lasts me 4 to 6 months.
