Winter is right around the corner!❄️ And with it comes a new reading season.
Today I’m sharing the holiday reads that I hope to enjoy from now until Christmas and my winter tbr to tackle from December through February.
I’m sure it won’t surprise anyone who knows me, but I lean heavily into holiday romance for the Christmas season. ?
If you enjoy a different genre to get you in the holiday spirit please share what you read in the comments!
My winter tbr is much shorter than my fall one. Fall is my ultimate reading season! I’m trying to rein myself in a bit during other seasons to leave some space for spontaneity in my reading choices.
I also wanted to leave room for some new book clubs and buddy reads because I’ve been branching out in that area of my reading life and loving it!
Shout out to the app Fable! If you enjoy buddy reads check this one out!
I love how easy this app makes it to share your thoughts while reading at your own pace and nobody gets spoiled. Plus it makes it possible to have an interactive online reading community!
What I’m Looking for in my Winter Reads
If you’re curious about what I mean by seasonal reading, check out this post, Is Seasonal Reading a Thing?
Besides holiday romance, this winter season I was looking for mysteries and thrillers with a winter setting or snowy atmosphere.
I also wanted to find nonfiction books perfect for the New Year. I’m hoping to read more nonfiction next year and that is a great place to start!
Books about books, historical fictions, and a wintery graphic novel were also fun categories I hoped to fill.
For February especially I wanted at least one great romance to look forward to.
Some of these categories (looking at you, romance) were easy for me to select, but for others I turned to one of my patreon book groups, The Currently Reading Bookish Friends.
While that group feels too large to really get to know other readers, they are an amazing resource for recommendations!

[…] My cravings for the holiday spirit started a little early this year. I read 3 of my Christmas books in November. I may need to add a few more holiday reads to my Christmas tbr. […]
Ooo Ooo I’ve got the perfect February read for you! It’s funny – I tend to gravitate towards certain genres depending on the season! I have been on a huge romance kick this fall so I thought I would share my favorite read so far. It’s called “Awake” by Lisa Battalia and its book 1 of the Midlife Romance series (http://www.lisabattalia.com/). The main character Lori has dedicated her life to her family. Her career and dreams have all been put on hold to take care of her husband and children. So, what happens when after 20 years of marriage, her husband leaves? The author writes about sexy grown-up characters that you can actually relate to. Lori reconnects with her old friend Brandon (the two have a bond that has remained even though they haven’t seen each other in a decade!) She plans an impromptu trip to visit him and CUE the steamy couldn’t-put-the-book-down-romance. However, I liked this book so much because it wasn’t just an easy reigniting of past love. They are both adults, with financial obligations, and children, and they can’t just run away and live happily ever after. I was rooting for them from start to finish. If you end up checking it out, I would love to know what you think! Happy Holidays and Happy Reading!
I love a good second chance romance ? I’ll have to check this one out. Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
Hi Becca, Congratulation on becoming a mom — and making it through a very eventful year! It’s funny how life so often happens like that, so many big things at one time. I do hope you will check out my 2 books series Awake and Second Chances — second chances is actually in the name LOL. I’d love to know what you think and look forward to following your book recommendations
Thanks so much! I look forward to checking the series out. Hope you’re having a great December!
