Making your own nontoxic household cleaners is a great way to know exactly what you’re putting into your home. DIY cleaning products cut down on the chemicals and toxins released into the air or sprayed on surfaces. By creating your own cleaning supplies, you can also save money and cut back on packaging waste!
I’ve been making my own cleaning products for years now. It’s amazing how few ingredients you really need to get the job done. Castile soap, vinegar, and baking soda are common items to keep on hand and all go a long way in naturally cleaning your home.
I recently fell in love with this daily shower spray! Using this DIY cleaning spray on the shower walls and doors after every use keeps it fresh between deep cleans and makes that process easier by cutting down on shower grime.
It’s simple to mix up with ingredients most households have readily available. Once combined it’s easy to keep near the shower for a few quick spritzes after use. The spray lasts a long time.
Since it contains vinegar, avoid using this on natural stone showers.
DIY Daily Shower Spray
What You Will Need:
- 16 oz glass spray bottle
- 1 cup distilled water
- 3/4 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
- 1 tsp castile soap
- 10 drops tea tree essential oil
- 5 drops lemongrass essential oil
How to Make Daily Shower Spray:
Pour 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol into your spray bottle.
Add 3/4 cup of vinegar.
Next count out your drops of essential oil for extra cleaning power.
Top off nearly the whole bottle with distilled water (about 1 cup).
The last ingredient to add is a teaspoon of castile soap to avoid it bubbling up.
Screw on the spray lid and shake to combine the ingredients.
Make sure to label the shower spray to avoid confusing it with other homemade cleaners.
Spray liberally on shower walls, doors, and floor after each use to help cut down on grime and residue buildup between cleanings. Shake well before each use.
This amount lasts us about a month.
