Life’s Too Short was my first book by Abby Jimenez. It’s the third book in her Friend Zone series, but I was told that it’s not necessary to read them in order.
The synopsis of this most recent release appealed to me. It was published in April of this year. I lucked out with it being readily available through my library!
I listened to it on audio. Life’s Too Short is a neighbors to friends to lovers romance that deals with some big life issues.
The Rundown
Vanessa Price finds her life put on hold when she steps in to take care of her newborn niece. A popular YouTuber who shares her travel adventures with millions of followers, she is used to living everyday to the fullest. It’s a motto she’s embraced since losing her mother and sister to a genetic condition before they turned 30.
Struggling with her new reality, Vanessa never expected help to show up in the form of her attractive next door neighbor, Adrian Copeland. Adrian is a career driven lawyer and apparent baby whisperer. Soon the three of them are spending a lot of time together with the addition of Adrian’s geriatric rescue dog.
They made it clear from the very beginning that this time together is just as friends. Neither of them wants a relationship. After so many shared experiences though, feelings grow. Adrian finds himself confused by Vanessa’s distance while she tries to fight feeling hope for a future she might not get to experience.
Rating and Review of Life’s Too Short
Rating: 5 stars
Steam Level: 3
I enjoyed every aspect of this book! I found myself completely immersed in the story. The dual audio narration by Christine Lakin and Zachary Webber was great!
My kind of heartthrob hero and an adventurous heroine!
I loved both lead characters. Adrian was definitely my kind of heartthrob. The description of his beard alone hooked me! Add to that great with babies and you have swoon worthy.
Vanessa led such an interesting life. I found her character fascinating with her family history, past career, and the situation she stepped up to resolve.
Life’s Too Short was so much more than a romantic comedy
This book was much more than a romantic comedy. Both characters were tackling many life issues from toxic family members to establishing healthy boundaries and major life shifts to health concerns. I loved their found family moments with the baby and Adrian’s rescue dog.
Life’s Too Short had a little bit of everything. Both characters grew and transformed so much through the story. There was family drama, many emotionally vulnerable moments, comedic relief, tear jerker scenes, and a good dose of steam.
I can’t wait to read more by Abby Jimenez
I’m very excited to read more from Abby Jimenez. I’ll definitely be checking out the first two books from this series. Those characters make a small appearance in this one but it seems like the first two books are more strongly linked to one another.
What romances have you been reading lately? Have you read anything by Abby Jimenez?

Oh man, I loved this one too!! Although, I would have told you to read the first two before this one. Ha! You definitely have to read The Friend Zone before Happy Ever After Playlist (and I have them both if you need them). She really knows how to write RomCom with heavy topics mixed in.
That’s funny! It didn’t seem like the characters from the first two were that important except for one scene? Thank you! I will let you know if I get off my audiobook kick.
