Book Review: Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

I fell in love with Lyssa Kay Adams’ Bromance Book Club series last summer. It was one of my new favorite series discovered last year. I have waited a long time to get my hands on the third book, Crazy Stupid Bromance, from my library.

I adore this group of characters! Successful businessmen, famous athletes, and even a star country singer form a secret romance book club to learn how to build or strengthen their relationships and support one another along the way. Revelations, hilarity, and heartwarming moments are sure to follow.

The Rundown

Alexis Carlisle is getting her cat cafe off the ground while offering it as a refuge to other victims of sexual harassment and abuse. She gets quite the shock when the new customer hanging around her cafe isn’t a woman in need of help but instead claims to be her sister! She finds herself drawn into a family she never wanted to know.

Her best friend, Noah Logan, is the one person she can turn to to help her navigate this surprise. Noah is struggling with his own problems, mainly he’s in love with Alexis. He has no idea how to tell her or even if they can take their friendship to the next level.

Enter the Bromance Book Club! Noah’s friends happily bring him into the fold and prescribe the perfect book to help him confess his feelings to Alexis and prove he’s the right man for her. But things are never that easy! They each struggle with whether the risk to their friendship is worth exploring their deeper feelings for one another.

Rating and Review

Rating: 4.5 stars

Steam Level: 2

I was pleasantly surprised to love this book so much! Going in, I wasn’t that excited about these two characters since I didn’t know much about them and while I empathized with Alexis in the last book, she was not my favorite character. This book wound up being better than the second for me and on par with the first!

A best friends to lovers story that really works

The friends to lovers trope is also not one of my favorites. In this story though, it really worked for me. Their connection and progression felt so real and believable. I adored these two!

Both the characters and storyline were well-developed. Alexis and Noah went through a lot of growth, changing and conquering their past fears. The story unfolded wonderfully.

I enjoyed how much both leads interacted with their families. It felt like a very family heavy book, where were lots of issues but in the best way. Crazy Stupid Bromance offered many beautiful life lessons as takeaways to keep considering long after you’ve finished the book.

Lyssa Kay Adams’ humor was spot on for me

This book had so many funny parts to it. Similar to the first book in this series, I couldn’t help but read some scenes and lines out loud to my husband.

There were amazing moments among the guys in the Bromance Book Club. They were ribbing one another one minute and then dropping wisdom bombs about toxic masculinity in the next!

Noah’s interactions with Beefcake, Alexis’s cat, were hilarious as well. Beefcake stole a few scenes. I also loved getting to known more of the book club members. I hope a few of them get their own stories in the future!

The Russian is getting his own book

The Russian is growing on me! In the beginning of the series, I could never picture how he’d get his own story. He seemed to be there for comic relief with his many digestive issues and exclamations.

The fourth book in the series, Isn’t It Bromantic?, is expected to publish in July and shares Vlad’s story with his mysterious wife.

He was so sweet and vulnerable in this book. I’m excited to read this lovable, albeit it hairy and sweaty, guy’s story!
