KU Library October Featured

What’s in My Kindle Unlimited Library: October Edition

“What’s in My Kindle Unlimited Library” is a feature I’m sharing on the blog every other month to keep myself honest about using my two year subscription.

This way I either read the books or return them, ensuring I stay fresh with my selections and keep trying new authors.

I’m always looking for new KU recs to try, especially those with the read and listen for free feature. So I hope this helps you find more authors and series to try on KU too!

If you have any must read books from the catalog, let me know in the comments.

My love affair with KU started with my May reading month this year. And I don’t see it fizzling out any time soon.

One of my reading goals is to average reading at least 3 KU books a month. So far I’m off to a great start!

Below I touch on what books I read from the previous August Edition, what other KU reads I snuck in, and what I returned – at least for now.

What I Read from the August Edition:

I read 9 books from the Kindle Unlimited Library: August Edition. That’s almost half the books I had checked out. That percentage feels pretty good for me.

I’m also happy that the majority of the books really worked for me. There are a lot of 4.5 and 5 star ratings!

Other KU Reads Since August:

  • The rest of Ruby Dixon’s Icehome series – this is a link to my review of Flor’s Fiasco (6 stars) and my ratings for the rest of the series
  • The Mindf*ck Series by S.T. Abby (5 stars)
  • Choosing Theo by Victoria Aveline (4 stars)
  • Freeing Luka by Victoria Aveline (3.5 stars)

What I Returned from my Kindle Unlimited Library:

Didn’t Fit It in Before Summer’s End

  • Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage
  • Between Hello and Goodbye by Emma Scott

Not Right Now

  • Jock Blocked by Pippa Grant
  • Voyeur by Fiona Cole
  • Keep Her Safe by Q.B. Tyler
  • A Love Letter to Whiskey by Kandi Steiner
  • Praise by Sara Cate
  • Off to the Races by Elsie Silver

What’s in My Kindle Unlimited Library this October:

Here are 17 new books I’m adding to my Kindle Unlimited Library this October and 3 titles I’m still hoping to read from past months!

I’m solidly into the autumn reading season so most of these are off my fall 2023 TBR. Some are even second chance titles from the June Edition that I thought would fit my fall reading tastes better.

What's in My Kindle Unlimited Library: October Edition 2

Hopeless by Elsie Silver

It’s finally here! The only new release on my fall TBR and my most anticipated read since Reckless (6 stars) took my top spot for favorite book of the year!

Of course this release conflicts with our first family getaway to the beach so it might take me a few days to see if this one delivers. As the final book in her beloved Chestnut Springs series, I so hope it does!

Wolf Gone Wild by Juliette Cross

I actually tried reading this book years ago and couldn’t get into it, but my reading tastes have since changed. Seeing so much love for this series made me want to give it another go.

Juliette Cross is also one of the hosts of the Smart Women Read Romance podcast, a podcast I used to listen to regularly. I think they’re back to releasing regular episodes again after a long hiatus.

Wolf Gone Wild is one of the paranormal romances off my fall TBR as well as October’s selection for A Dose of Romance Book Club over on Fable.

Fated Mates by Alicia Montgomery

This was a recommendation from my friend Corinne when we were discussing shifter romances and I’ve been saving it for the fall. It’s also off my fall TBR.

A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor by Kathryn Moon

I checked this book out back in June after hearing great reviews and then decided to save it for the fall.

All I know is it’s a monster romance, reverse harem or why choose, and many readers say it’s sweet and well-written. It’s another one from my fall TBR.

Watt and Bothered by Fiona Davenport

This is another monster/paranormal romance that I checked out before but opted to save for fall.

Watt and Bothered is the first book in the Monster Between the Sheets series featuring paranormal romances with each book written by a different author. It’s another one from my fall TBR.

Ensnared by Tiffany Roberts

Jenn at The Book Refuge put this series on my radar. It’s on my fall TBR under alien romance.

Ensnared is the first book in The Spider’s Mate trilogy, a series that follows the same couple in all three books.

There Are No Saints by Sophie Lark

I have been wanting to read another book from Sophie Lark since I read Ivan (4 stars) back in June.

This is the first book in her Sinners duet and considered a dark romance. It’s also on my fall TBR under the dark/serial killer romance category.

Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann

Still Beating is another dark romance from my fall TBR. I have seen so much love for this book all over romance booktube that I’m eager to give it a try even as I’m nervous about the content.

It has a very interesting premise – a woman is kidnapped along with her sister’s fiancé by a serial killer who makes his victims fall in love first. They’ve never gotten along and now have to depend on one another to try to survive.

Wicked Wishes by Dee Ellis

Wicked Wishes is a novella that is part of the Halloween Steam series, where each work is written by a different author. I believe the story takes place on Halloween. It’s one of the short romances I wanted to try reading for the holiday!

Trick by Shae Sanders

This is another short story that takes place on Halloween. It was recommended when I was searching for Halloween themed romance novellas. It’s off my fall TBR in the For Halloween category.

Marriage for One by Ella Maise

This was a bit of bookish serendipity. I saw this title in one of Bree’s videos from In Love and Words. I believe it’s one of her favorite KU books. At the same time I saw it recommended on lists for Thanksgiving romances when I was researching that theme.

From the description, I have no idea if it actually has to do with Thanksgiving but I’ll find out!

Bewitched by You by Kendra Mase

I can’t remember how I came across this one but I asked Bookstagram if I should add it to my fall TBR and they voted yes.

This is a new adult contemporary romance featuring a witch and a football player in a small town.

Flock by Kate Stewart

It seems like everyone loves this series but nobody can really say what it’s about without spoilers. I’ve heard it described as a romantic suspense with cult vibes which seemed like a great mood to add to my fall TBR.

Haven by Claire Kent

This is another new to me author who Jenn at The Book Refuge put on my radar.

This is the first book in Claire Kent’s Kindled series which is post-apocalyptic romance. I’m looking forward to trying it!

R’jaal’s Resonance by Ruby Dixon

I finished Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians and Icehome series in August. Thankfully I don’t have to say goodbye to Not-Hoth just yet!

This is the first book in a spin off series called Ice Planet Clones. While I’m excited to finally see R’jaal get his HEA, I also want to save this one for a day when I need a comfort read. It’s the only book out in this series so far.

My Favorite Kidnapper by Melanie Moreland

I’m part of Jenn at The Book Refuge‘s Patreon now and this title was chosen for her exclusive Patreon review this month. I thought it could be fun to possibly read it at the same time.

Saving Verakko by Victoria Aveline

This is the next book in The Clecanian Series. Choosing Theo, book 1, was on my fall TBR under alien romance. I find the world and society Aveline built fascinating. I gave it 4 stars and carried on with the series.

Garnet Flats by Devney Perry

Update: I don’t know if I’ll be in the small town mood this fall but I’m still planning to continue this series at some point so holding onto this title for now.

This is the third book in Devney Perry’s The Edens series. They’re small town romances that each follow a different Eden sibling. Some of them have an element of romantic suspense.

I love the setting of Quincy, Montana and the large family dynamics. There was a hint of this couple at the end of book 2 so I’m excited to continue the series.

Always Mine by Laura Pavlov

Update: I still really want to try reading Laura Pavlov! This may be November’s pick for A Dose of Romance Book Club. Fable added a breakdown of its chapters for a book club selection upon my request which was really cool!

I keep seeing Jessica at PeaceLoveBooksXO gush over Laura Pavlov.

Her small town romance series that follows a group of siblings have been on my radar for awhile. Those are two of my favorite things. I hope to read her asap to see if this train is for me! It appears most of her books are available as KU reads.

Captive of the Horde King by Zoey Draven

Update: This is now the book that’s been in my Kindle Unlimited library the longest! I’ve heard so much love for this series, I still really want to read it and it’s on my fall TBR so fingers crossed you won’t be seeing it again come December’s Edition.

Another alien romance series that was recommended by Ava’s Romance Books. It’s described as a barbarian planet with Dothraki type aliens. Sign me up! I’ll just be picturing Jason Momoa as the hero ?
