Happy fall y’all!
I’m ready to immerse myself in the season. Even if it’s still in the 90s outside!
Today I’m sharing a list of simple inexpensive ideas for embracing the autumn season.
I enjoy brainstorming ways to celebrate different seasons of the year as well as different seasons in life. It helps me savor the little things and reminds me to be present in the current moment.
I hope to continue creating activity lists for each season. When I think of small ways to celebrate, I like to focus on things like seasonal reading, special foods, and timely activities or outings.
Since fall is my favorite season, it’s especially fun to start with this one!
My take on fall is quite traditional. Give me all the pumpkin, all the shades of orange, red, and brown, and all the cozy vibes!
Our Fall Activities List:
- Find a chunky knit sweater at a thrift store.
- Make a ton of pumpkin and apple recipes.
- Walk through a cemetery.
- Find trees with changing leaves and collect some that have fallen.
- Visit a pumpkin patch.
- Find out if we have any apple orchards nearby.
- Create a fall TBR.
- Do a puzzle while listening to a cozy or spooky audiobook.
- Enjoy homemade seasonal coffee drinks.
- Check out an autumn playlist.
- Watch Hocus Pocus 2 and make it a fun movie night.
- Create a fall scent with essential oils.
- Make autumn scented candles.
- Collect a few fall decorations including twinkle lights.
- Carve pumpkins and check out the Pumpkin Float on the river this Halloween.
- Enjoy morning walks as the weather turns cooler.
We’ve already begun those early morning walks
Since Mr. O is insistent on waking up at 5 am no matter the morning, we’ve embraced early morning walks as a family on the weekends. It has been wonderful to explore our neighborhood together and take in the cooler temperature in that hour after the sunrise.
We’re also enjoying the natural beauty surrounding us. Our new home is only a 10 minute walk from the river running through town.
One morning we even got caught in an impromptu rain shower. Mr. O took it in stride, always up for an adventure.
Though the calendar has finally reached true autumn, the trees and flowers here are still in full bloom. I am loving gathering ideas for our yard!
It’s also nice to get in a little exercise and have that space for conversation as a couple.
What fall activities are you looking forward to? How do you embrace the seasons?

You’ll have to share when you decide on some things! I love that phrase “bucket list”. It escaped me when I was writing this up.
I love everything about this post!! What a beautiful area you’re living in now!
Awe, thank you Kathie! We are loving it so far. It’s a lot more fun when you can actually venture outside!
